Simulacra is a small multi-node fleet that buries your real devices in a crowd of phantom shades - synthetic BLE and Wi-Fi devices that look like an ordinary crowd - and flags hunters: trackers and followers that shadow you across time and place. It runs on cheap ESP32 boards and shows what it sees on a small display.

Raise a fleet

You need at least one decoy board (Waveshare ESP32-C5-WIFI6-KIT suggested - dual-band and it takes/charges its own battery, and it is the board the project is developed on; ESP32-C6 also fully supported) and one controller (ESP32-2432S028, the "CYD" display). Plug in each board and flash it - the chip is detected and the right role is installed automatically.

Before you begin. Works in desktop Chrome or Edge only (Web Serial). A plain (non-CYD) ESP32 board would receive controller firmware, so use the boards above.

This starter build has no security. Every unit flashed from this page carries the same link key and trusts the same control key, and both are published in the source repository. In practice that means anyone within radio range can read its telemetry (including detected-threat data) and silently pause the decoy or wipe its detections - a paused decoy looks identical to a running one from the outside. Treat this build as a demo you can watch work, not as protection you can rely on.

For anything real, build the provisioned regime from source: it mints per-fleet keys, so only your own Vigil can read from or command your nodes.
